Christmas and Easter
Christmas
The celebration of Christmas is a special time at St. Michael and All Angels. We hold a variety of events and services. We have two services on Christmas Eve – a 5:00 pm service that includes the children’s Christmas Pageant and a 9:30 pm service that begins with special music and concludes with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. There is a 10:00 am service on Christmas Day.
Holy Week and Easter
The traditional services of Holy Week and Easter invite us to participate in the great drama of our redemption. Each service reenacts one of the key events of the final week of Jesus’ life.
Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday with the blessing of palms and a festival procession around the church waving newly blessed palm fronds along the way. St. Michael and All Angels observes the Triduum – The Three Great Days. These include Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and the Great Vigil of Easter. Maundy Thursday is observed with an agape meal in the Ministry Center followed by the tradition of foot washing and the stripping of the altar. Good Friday is honored with a service at 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Each Good Friday service also includes the Stations of the Cross. The Great Vigil of Easter is on Saturday evening at 8:00 pm. Both our 8:00 am and 10:30 am services proclaim the great joy of the resurrection on Easter Sunday.
